Elliptical Machines: Exceptional Workout Without the Pain

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

If you want to increase the efficiency of your workout, while protecting your joints, the elliptical machine is the best choice.

While walking and jogging can be jarring to the knees and hips, elliptical machines afford a smooth, fluid motion that protects your body. You can move like you would to walk or jog but without the weight. It’s the next best thing to walking on air.

Conventional means of exercise can assist you lose weight, but they can also lessen the functionality of other parts of your body. Running or jogging on concrete is detrimental to your total joint health, especially that of your knees.

Exposing your joints to high-impact exercise routinely can lead to significant injuries. Shin splints are a common affliction, and your cartilage might even start to diminish. The two of these may cause moderate to severe pain.

In some circumstances, it may become necessary to stop or severely change your exercise regimen. Day to day activities may also be influenced because of pain. A common example of an impact-related injury is when you encounter inflammation in the posterior peroneal tendon. You may notice a manageable amount of pain in the beginning, but it often progresses until you can no longer function as you used to.

The culprits are weight and gravity. When you do high-impact tasks, these combine to put immense pressure and stress on the joints. Walking or jogging, even on softer treadmill surfaces, can be extremely ruinous to your long-term joint health. For greatest results attempt best home elliptical machine to facilitate your learning curve.

It becomes especially important to have healthy joints as we age.

Doing what we can to protect our joints at present will help us in the long-run. While we may be willing and able to deal with a little pain now, it will only get bad in twenty or thirty years. It may even become crippling.

How does one continue to be physically fit and healthy, then?

You can opt for exercising in water. This negates gravity’s effects and allows for no impact activity. Another alternative, for those who like to stay on dry ground, is to use an elliptical machine.

By using an elliptical machine, you get the same enormous benefits as you would from walking or jogging: calorie burn, weight loss, cardiovascular health, and a good, healthy sweat. At the same time, you are taking stress far from your joints. This will put an end to injury, pain, and long-term joint issues. Study elliptical machine for more serious workout programs.

You will also discern that using an elliptical machine feels much easier owing to the fluid, natural movement it promotes. And in contrast with a treadmill, you are even working your upper body. You can get an excellent workout without damaging your body or constricting your joints.

Treadmills have won popularity as incline options were built. Elliptical machines also encompass this characteristic, as well as forward and reverse motion pedaling. Watch for elliptical interval training for sounder workout routines.

You can engage in the forward skiing motion and then reverse to strengthen an entirely distinct set of muscles. Treadmills do not provide you this aspect, and it may look a little abnormal jogging down a trail backwards (it’s not very safe also).

When you exercise, you want the benefits of running or jogging, without the injurious impact. An elliptical machine gives you the best of both worlds and will retain your body as well as joints functioning properly.

What Are Sole Ellipticals Good For

Friday, September 25th, 2009

One of the most crucial features to consider when purchasing an elliptical trainer is the warranty. Warranty is a good measure of the quality and hence the durability of the machine.

There is a relative new player in the elliptical trainer industry, Sole Fitness. They are out to position their product by providing one of the most widespread warranties ever offered by a competitor. This includes 5 year coverage on parts and electronics, and 2 year labor.

Why is the warranty so important when purchasing fitness equipment? .First, it reduces your liability if the machine breaks down. Apart from the cost of expensive parts, you need to pay for the services of a skilled professional for replacing those parts. Further, the quality of a machine is determined to a large extent by the warranty. And elliptical trainer from Sole is backed up 100%.

When you think about it, a warranty is based on simple economics. You don’t expect a manufacturer of an elliptical trainer to offer you an extensive coverage by way of warranty if the product has not been designed and manufactured to last for a long time, do you?. On the other hand, an equipment with an imperfect design or doubtful quality of components used for making it, can’t be warranted for long as the prohibitive cost of replacements would drive the company to near bankruptcy.

Why do you think cheap elliptical trainers come with a 90 day parts and labor warranty? . It’s because the manufacturers do not have much faith the machine will last much longer than that.

It’s not only a fabulous warranty offer, Sole Fitness manufactures elliptical trainers of very superior quality. I had a chance to test ride the machine and was overwhelmed by its smooth elliptical motion and it remained almost noiseless even under enhanced resistance. I can’t help appreciating its 20” stride .Most ellipticals are built with a 16”-18” stride. With a smaller stride you often feel like your workout is constrained, and the elliptical motion bouncy. The longer stride is certainly needed for taller people measuring about six feet or above but even those with average height will remain comfortable with a stride of 20 inches. Not to mention short stride of Proform exercising units.

In addition, their treadmills are used by the Hilton chain for in-room fitness. That’s another testament of its quality that withstood and surpassed the tests of commercial environments. You are assured of getting the same quality in their elliptical trainers.

Used Fitness Equipment

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

Do you really like going to the local gym everyday?  Now seriously, be truthful about this one.  Personally I detest going to the gymnasium.  It’s plain and simply a bother for me.  It’s just one more thing that I must try and squeeze into my day.  On the other hand, I am not opposed to buying gymnasium equipment.  I always favor to just own the stuff.  This way I’m able to have immediate access to it whenever I please.  Trust me ; the convenience makes a whole lot of difference.  Not only will owning gymnasium apparatus make it simpler, but it may actually encourage you to exercise more often.  I know that it has certainly had this effect on me.

Allow me to give you my private diatribe about owning gym hardware.  These are the reasons I hate driving to our local YMCA.  First of all, I should drive there.  This is so time-consuming.  You basically have to find some workout cloths, put them on, and then drive all of the way to the gym.  Oh, and don’t forget that you’re going to have to drive all the way back home as well .  This is a waste of your day.  How much faster could you work out if you had your own gym hardware in your house?  Then there is the gas issue.  I do not need to pay for gas that’s’s needed for driving to the gym five days each week.  This is a waste of money.  Also, you have to share the gymnasium equipment with everyone.  What if somebody is using the machine you would like to use?  That stinks!  And their sweat is going to be all over it when you plop down on it.  Yuck!  These are valid reasons for not wanting to go to the gymnasium.  These reasons are why I determined to purchase my own gym apparatus.  It’s not as expensive as some folks may think.  What is it that you actually use at the gym?  Are you one of those people who just run on the treadmill?  Then purchase a treadmill!  I like to do curls, bench press, jump rope, and box.  I can accomplish all of this at home.  In cost me about four hundred USD to get all the gym hardware I need.  How much are you paying every single month?  I basically paid 400 dollars for a lifetime membership.  Beat that!

If you are an internet surfer, then it’s time to see all of the gymnasium equipment they’ve got for sale online now days.  Let me tell you, the possibilities are limitless.  Whatever you want in your house is credible when it comes to latest gymnasium gear.  Get started now!

Ironman Inspire Folding Treadmill

Sunday, August 2nd, 2009

We all need ripped abs and a tight body.  Sadly when it comes to shedding pounds and getting in shape, there are no short-cuts.  You have got to actually need it in order to reach it.  This means a regular workout regimen along with a healthy diet plan.  Now, where you get your workout on is completely up to you.  You will be interested in the local gymnasium or YMCA because they provide a nice array of machines and free weights.  Then again, with fitness centers come monthly fees, additional driving trips and a lot of sharing.  This is why I steer clear of public gymnasiums and health clubs.  Way too much bother involved if you ask me.  Why not just keep it simple?  Purchase an ironman inspire folding treadmill and some free weights once, and you’ll be set for an entire life.  And you will not have to share with anybody.

How many different machines do you really need?  This naturally depends on the kinds of workouts you would like to achieve.  If you’re simply curious about some good cardiovascular, then an ironman inspire folding treadmill is probably perfect for you.  Just in case you were wondering, this isn’t inexpensive product.  I have seen them online for $999, but you can frequently pay via payments.  At least you are actually getting something tangible when you purchase an ironman induce folding treadmill, a weight bench, or any exercise equipment for that matter.  Those that fork out 50-100 dollars a month for a gym membership don’t get anything they can actually keep.  It makes more sense to acquire the right gear for you and your requirements.  Once it’s paid for, it’s yours to keep and use forever.

My better half has enjoyed an ironman induce folding treadmill for some time now.  This is essentially the only piece of exercise equipment she uses.  It does provide an overall body workout.  It isn’t just about your legs.  You may drop excess body fat and tone up.  And the best part is this machine is compact because it folds up.  You can move it out of the way when you’re not using it.  So, if you are ready to drop a few additional pounds, but without the burdens of a gym membership, an individual treadmill is your bag.

Reviews and descriptions of many other electric treadmills can be found on The Treadmill Blog.

Interval Treadmill Training - How This Could Improve Your Running & Physical Fitness

Monday, July 27th, 2009

Interval training is a series of high intensity, high speed exercises followed by rest periods of little or no activity. Generally, long distance runners, sprinters and football players use interval training to attaint a distance of a minimum of 800m.

For long distance runners, it’s most common to practice interval training on a track. They do this by running hard for a particular distance before slowing to a jog or walk. The running would start again after a specific amount of time is up, and this process is repeated as often it is needed in the athlete’s training plan. Interval training is a very effective and proven way to slowly build strong cardiovascular systems.

If you want to lose weight, interval training might be perfect for you, because it’s more effective at getting rid of fat than any other exercise type. In several studies, where moderate exercise was compared side by side to interval training, the person doing the interval training was able to lost more weight than the moderate exerciser, during the same time period.

Interval training using a track might be convenient for people that live nearby and have a training partner, but it also works well on a treadmill. Treadmills are considered to be the best contraptions available on the market, because they sufficiently keep track of time, distance and calories burned. Having all those metrics right there at the push of a button makes a treadmill the perfect companion for interval training. Treadmills make you keep your body moving and very good for keeping track of your progress and meeting goals with their data systems. You might not have a way to track your speed or distance by training alone, but using a treadmill gives you enough information to help you increase your effectiveness and stick to your training routine.

For athletes who are seriously training each day for a special event, buying one of the many treadmills for sale for the home gym to do interval training helps a lot. Also, owning your own treadmill not only gives you the means to practice during the night and day, but enables you to work out at home without having to go to a gym. Another plus to owning your own treadmill is that if you work odd hours, it rains or you simply can’t find the time in your day to head over to a gym, you have the convenience of owning your own personal gym. Do you wish to know how far you have gone in your workout, or do you want to know what your heart rate is? A high quality Nordic Track treadmill can provide you with all of this information, you will always know where you are in your workout and how far you have gone. There will be no reason to hire a sitter for the kids or to leave your home when the weather is not agreeing; your own Smooth treadmill can do all that you need and more to make the best of your interval training ventures.

The Basics of Treadmills For Home Use

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

There are various reasons why one should seriously think about buying a treadmill for the house. Due to the fact that gymnasium expenses grow over the months, you might not constantly be able to frequent the health club, so having your own personal gym at home is the practical choice. Treadmills can be used for running or jogging as well as walking, and that should be the first piece you buy for your home gym. Before making your purchase you’ll need to consider what sort of treadmill with what sort of features you need.

For those who are looking for a basic treadmill for walking, you need not spend a fortune to get a treadmill that will work well for you. Walking on treadmills doesn’t cause the same wear and tear as running or jogging, so you can make do with a much cheaper treadmill. But if you plan to jog or run extensively on your treadmill, you’ll probably want to spend a bit more on a higher quality treadmill with a bigger price tag.

Treadmills have all sorts of features between the expensive high quality equipment and the lower-end inexpensive equipment. Make sure you have a good enough motor though. This part takes most of the wear and if it is not powerful or quality enough it might burn out. An inadequately powered motor cannot last long if the treadmill is being used for more than just walking, so it is important to purchase the finest your money can buy. Peak horsepower and continuous duty horsepower are the two measurement ratings that treadmill motors have. Don’t be fooled by an engine with a great peak horsepower mentioned in the treadmill reviews because you have to make sure the continuous duty horsepower is good as well. A high continuous horsepower rating means the machine will last much longer as the motor will have more power.

The belt is also an essential feature to inspect. That’s the piece of rubber tread that you actually walk on, so it’s important that it be of high quality. The cheaper, less solid treadmills might appear nice on the exterior, but the belt almost always ends up wearing down from lack of thickness later on after purchasing it. If you want to get the most out of the life of a treadmill, make sure to purchase at least a 2 ply belt, but of course in this case, thicker is better. Since the belts are expensive to replace, you should get one that is of the highest quality.

A treadmill of decent quality doesn’t necessarily need to cost a small fortune, however spending a few hundred extra dollars could mean and increase of longevity. Always set your budget before you go, but realize that if your budget is too low, you may be forced to buy a machine that is of poor quality and will wear out in a short time.
