Ab and Back Machine Guide
One of the great things with an ab back machine is that you can get an entire core workout in very easily, with no need for extra equipment. If you haven’t been using an ab back machine up to this point, they may seem a little strange – mayble even difficult to get used. But, really all you need is the proper technique and knowledge of how to use one of these machines and you’ll be strengthening your abs and back in no time at all.
Before the Ab and Back Workout
It’s important to incorporate warm-up exercises before your workout. It’s important that you don’t skip this step in a rush to get to you workout. The warm up exercises loosen up your muscles and protect you from injury.
A couple of exercises you might consider when warming up are jumping jacks, jogging, or an eliptical machine. Once you have the muscles warmed up from your exercise, move on to doing some light stretches. There is no reason to go for an intense stretch at this point. Keep the stretch light.
During the Ab Back Workout
It’s good to first consider the amount of weight you plan to use. You might not need to add any weight if you are using the machine for the first time. Instead concentrate on learning the movement and building strenght. If you plan to add resistance and you are a first time user of the equipment, start of light. There is no reason to get hurt, especially your first time out.
Now, decide which body part you’re going to work first, your abs or your back. Often, people are inclined to do much more work on their abs than they do their back. After all, we all want that great six pack. The back is integral to most every day movements, from bending over to picking something up, to carrying something up the stairs.
The two body parts should be worked equally for maximum effectiveness. If you do 20 reps of your abs, do twenty reps for you back during the same workout.
You can get really great results by starting with a program of three sets of twenty reps. And, keep track of your reps. You’ll want to keep track of your progress and your resistance levels for each workout, so that you can see yourself progress.
That’s one of the great things about these machines. Many abs machines you see in commercials are great to start, but they don’t allow you to add weights in order to progress. You are limited to the resistance that your own body weight offers, and that won’t change. This is the type of machine that has staying power. You can use it for years and consistently challenge your core muscles.
When should you do your workout
A regular workout routine is a good thing to get in the habit of scheduling so that your body will become accustomed to the exercise and so that you’ll achieve the best possible results. There’s no need to work on your abs and back everyday. In fact, three or four times a week on your machine should do the job. If your body is telling you it’s sore, don’t push it. Rest and recovery is as important to your muscle development as your workout.
You can even sneak in some mini-workouts during those weeks where you’re really pressed for time.
Maybe you already have equipment for you back and you’re only looking for ab exercise equipment. In that case, I’d suggest an ab cruncher machine.
