How do I get Sports Insurance

It is easy to apply because you do not need to take a medical or answer any health related questions. As long as you are aged between 6 months to 18 for Junior cover and 18-60 for adults, an amateur sportsperson and permanently living in the United Kingdom, the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands, you can apply. Simply complete the online application form.

Can I spend my money on anything I like?

Absolutely anything! You do not have to use your money for treatment. It is entirely your decision how and when you spend your money.

Staying in a NHS hospital is free, so why provide a benefit?

We agree that you would not have to pay out for treatment or your stay. But what about some of the hidden costs that might occur, such as travelling costs for your family and relatives or extra help around the home?

Is Group Cover for Teams available?

No. Sports Accident Protection is only available to individual amateur sports persons. We insure you for all sports you participate in (with the exception of certain dangerous sports), so if you decide to take up other sports your cover will still apply. This is the advantage of insuring you - not the club or the sport you choose to play.

Is there a waiting period before I can claim?

No, you can claim immediately as this is an accident insurance policy.

What does the Dental Cover consist of?

If an accident happens whilst participating in sport or training, which means that dental treatment is needed, we will pay the cost of the treatment up to £2,500 per incident.

Can I cancel my cover if I choose?

Simply call 08707 200 962 to cancel.

How do I make a claim?

To claim under this policy, write to The Claims Dept, Pinnacle Insurance plc, Pinnacle House, A1 Barnet Way, Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, WD6 2XX or phone us on 020 8207 9136 and you will be sent a claim form, which should be completed and returned within 90 days of the occurrence of the injury.

Is there anything I won't be covered for?

A full list of exclusions will be provided with your policy but the main instances when you will not be covered are:

Where a condition you had before the start date makes an injury occurring after the start date more severe, we will only pay the benefit which you would have been entitled to if you had not suffered from that condition.

Am I covered as a semi professional?

No, this insurance is purely for amateur sports players. You may claim benefit if you are paid expenses but not if you are paid attendance money or match bonuses or if you are a professional sports person.

Can I take out cover for a holiday / one-off event?

No. Sports Accident protection offers continued cover for all sports you participate in (with the exception of certain dangerous sports as outlined under the section 'Is There anything I won't be covered for?') for a low monthly premium. Cover is therefore not available for holidays / one-off events.

If I have an injury but not fractured a bone am I still covered?

Compensation for broken bones is just one of the benefits offered with this plan. Other benefits include dental cover, cash towards physiotherapy and hospitalisation cash.
